In Memoriam: William E. Connolly

In Memoriam William E. Connollly

Political theorist William E. Connolly, Krieger-Eisenhower Professor of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University, passed last week, leaving behind an influential body of work studying democracy, capitalism and culture.

A frequent contributor to our journal Theory & Event, in 2019 Connolly was celebrated in the pages of that journal in a symposium, "William E. Connolly at 80" which features work by Thomas L. Dumm, Bonnie Honig, Catherine Keller, Nidesh Lawtoo, and Lars Tønder as well as a response from Connolly himself.

To celebrate his memory, we've collected a reading list of Connolly's published works in Hopkins Press Journals, including his contributions in Theory & Event, stretching back to its very first issue in 1997. All these articles will be free to read through 31 March 2026.
