Post by Brian Shea Journals PR & Advertising Coordinator A grand jury will soon announce whether Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson should be charged in the shooting death of Michael Brown on August 9, 2014. Protesters and police are trying to work together to avoid a repeat of the clashes between the two sides which took place earlier this summer. 
With all eyes on the St. Louis suburb once again, the journal Theory & Event has produced a special supplement with essays focused on Brown’s death and surrounding issues. The online-only journal has previously released issues on timely matters such as Occupy Wall Street and the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The issue will be available as an open access publication until February 11. The introduction by guest editor Melvin Rogers, associate professor of political science and African American studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, will remain open access on Project MUSE after that date. Professor Rogers brought together scholars from Barnard College, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Texas A&M, the University of Alabama, the University of Chicago, the University of Utah, Wayne State University, and Yale University for the issue. Our podcast series features a discussion with Rogers about the issue and the situation for young black men in America today to supplement the open access articles on this important discussion.
