Meet Henry Smith - EdD

Henry M. Smith is an assistant professor of education in the areas of leadership and policy at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, where he previously served both as Associate Dean for Development/Alumni Affairs and also as Executive Director for Partnerships in Educational Transformation. He is a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education; former three term Councilman and Mayor of Dover, N.H.; former New Hampshire State Director for Public Transit and developer of New Hampshire’s COAST transit system; instructor in community colleges and education policy at the George Washington University; founding Director of Corporate Relations at Tufts University; former Assistant to the President at the National Labor College; and consultant to educational organizations and companies, universities and community colleges.

Dr. Smith received a BA in Political Science from Boston University; an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; and an EdD in Higher Education Administration from the George Washington University Graduate School of Education & Human Development.
