Ellen W. Faran is the former Director of the MIT Press, a position she held from 2003-2015. Ellen has over 40 years of experience in trade, professional, and scholarly publishing. Her previous employers include the Trade & Reference Division of Houghton Mifflin; Farrar, Straus & Giroux; the Adult Trade division of HarperCollins; the National Academies Press; and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Ellen has a degree in English from Radcliffe College and an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School.
