Peer Review Policy

Classical World considers for publication original work that has not been submitted to other journals simultaneously. It does not publish translations or reprints. When a submission arrives it is considered first by the editor to see if it is of appropriate content and quality, and it is then, if passing this initial review, sent on to an associate editor, who may decline to send it to referees, based upon that editor’s expertise. The review process is double-blind. The criteria for review are quality, originality, and the scope of the article’s contribution to its field. Articles might be accepted on a contingent basis, in which case there is a second round of review; this may be done by the editors, or by the first referees. Some authors, after the first review, are invited to revise and resubmit, in which case the revised manuscript is sent back to the referees. CW strives to complete the first round of review in two months. CW rarely publishes informal pieces, which, in any case, still go through peer review.
