L'Esprit Créateur: The International Quarterly of French and Francophone Studies is one of the longest continually published scholarly journals established in the U.S. that is devoted to critical inquiry in the area of French and Francophone Studies. Articles, which can appear in either English or French, are addressed to readers with an interest in literature, theory, and cultural critique in French and Francophone literature and culture. Issues of L'Esprit Créateur: The International Quarterly of French and Francophone Studies are thematic. According to the editors, each issue is designed, "to represent a critical engagement with a significant issue in the discipline of French and Francophone Studies." The editors select guest editors who solicit articles from specialists and submit issues for assessment by the editors. Magazine for Librarians reports that L'Esprit Créateur: The International Quarterly of French and Francophone Studies "ranks among the premier literary and critical publications and is highly recommended to academic and public research libraries."
