Journal of the History of Philosophy

Author Guidelines

The Journal of the History of Philosophy is an international journal that publishes articles, notes, discussions, and reviews about the history of Western philosophy, broadly conceived. The Journal publishes material in English, German, and French. It appears quarterly in January, April, July, and October.

Manuscripts should be sent as e-mail attachments in Rich Text Format (RTF) or as MS Word documents to jhpeditor@duke.edu. In addition, in order for refereeing process to start, a letter of submission and one (1) hard copy of the manuscript must be sent by regular mail to:

The average length of an article in JHP is between 10,000 and 14,000 words including references. Notes are usually between 4,000 and 6,000 words. All direct and indirect references to the author in the manuscript should be removed. Submissions not prepared for blind review will be returned for correction. For citation format, please consult the latest issue and The Chicago Manual of Style..

By submitting a manuscript to JHP, the author acknowledges that the work is original, has not appeared in print and is not under consideration elsewhere.

Le Journal of the History of Philosophy est une revue internationale publiant articles, notes, discussions, comptes rendus de travaux récents et recensions d'ouvrages se rapportant à l'histoire de la philosophie occi-dentale conçue au sens large. La revue accueille des textes rédigés en anglais, en allemand, ou en français. Trimestrielle, elle paraît en janvier, avril, juillet et octobre.

LES MANUSCRITS doivent parvenir annexés à un courriel, sous format RTF (Rich Text Format) ou MS Word, adressé à : jhpeditor@duke.edu. En outre, pour que le processus d'évaluation puisse être enclenché, les auteurs enverront un exemplaire sur papier de leur manuscrit, accompagné d'une lettre de couverture, au:

*Les auteurs sont priés d'y adjoindre un bref résumé de leur texte.

La longueur moyenne des articles paraissant dans le JHP se situe entre 10 000 et 14 000 mots, références incluses ; et celle des notes, d'ordinaire, entre 4 000 et 6 000 mots. Aucune référence directe ou indirecte permettant d'en identifier l'auteur ne doit apparaître dans le texte. Les manuscrits dérogeant à cette directive seront renvoyés à leur auteur pour rectification. Pour se renseigner sur le mode de présentation des citations et références on voudra bien consulter le dernier numéro paru ainsi que "The Chicago Manual of Style.”

Par le fait même de soumettre un manuscrit au Journal of the History of Philosophy, l'auteur donne son as-surance que le contenu lui en est attribuable, que le texte est inédit et qu'il n'a pas été proposé simultanément à d'autres revues.

Instruktionen fuer Autorinnen und Autoren

Das Journal of the History of Philosophy ist eine internationale Zeitschrift, die Abhandlungen, Beiträge, Diskussionen und Besprechungen von Werken zur Geschichte der Philosophie des Abendlandes, in ainem weiten Sinn verstanden, veröffentlicht. Das Journal publiziert Arbeiten auf Englisch, Deutsch und Französisch. Die Zeitschfrift erscheint vierteljährlich, im Januar, April, Juli und Oktober.

MANUSKRIPTE sind elektronisch entweder als Email-Attachments in Rich Text Format (RTF) oder als MS Word-Dokumente an jhpeditor@duke.edu sowie per Post in einer (1) Kopie zusammen mit einem Begleitschreiben an die folgende Adresse zu senden:

Die meisten Artikel enthalten zwischen 10'000 und 14'000 Wörter, Fußnoten inklusive, wobei die Fußnoten zwischen 4'000 und 6'000 Wörter enthalten. Da es sich um ein anonymes Auswahlverfahren handelt, dürfen die Manuskripte keinerlei Angaben zur Autorschaft enthalten. Manuskripte, die diese Auflage nicht erfüllen, werden zur Korrektur an den Autor oder die Autorin zurückgest. Die Manuskripte müssen dem Zitierformat des 'Chicago Manual of Style' entsprechen.

Mit dem Einreichen des Artikels beim JHP bestätigen Autor oder Autorin, dass sie den Text selbst verfasst haben und dass er noch an keinem anderen Ort erschienen ist oder zur Zeit keiner anderen Zeitschrift zur Prüfung vorliegt.
