The official publication of the Association for Asian American Studies, the Journal of Asian American Studies (JAAS) explores all aspects of the Asian American experience. The Journal publishes new theoretical developments; research results; methodological innovations; public policy concerns; pedagogical issues; and book, media, and exhibition reviews. In providing a much-needed outlet for the increasing volume of scholarship in the field, JAAS features contributions that articulate Asian American Studies both within the various disciplines that constitute the field and/or contribute to it as a distinct interdisciplinary scholarly pursuit.

Readers include: Members of the Association for Asian American Studies; teachers and students of Asian American studies; academics in Ethnic studies, American studies, history, sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science, education, gender studies, queer studies, and criticial theory. Students in higher education; concerned professionals (including public policy and community service groups); and the interested public.
